The Historical Society enjoyed a successful book sale at the Holiday Bazaar at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds. Two weekends and the sale of 38 books, including our new Tillamook County Historical Sites, a fresh look at 25 local historical sites. The spiral-bound book slips into your glove box or day pack, and is a friendly guide to interesting spots around the county. Available at our on-line book store and the Pioneer Museum. A big thank you to Tillamook Coast Visitors Association for publishing it.
We are celebrating the addition of a new road sign on Bewley Creek Road south of Tillamook off of Highway 101. The sign commemorates the “old” name of Bewley Creek Road and honors the former Coats Lumber Co. mill on that road. Thanks to Eric Simmons and the county public work department for this project.
We also found an old photo of the 1932 dedication of the current courthouse and the county officials of the time.
The Cloverdale photo mural project is complete, and a walking tour brochure is available from local merchants. It is a fun adventure to explore the town and its photos.
2025 promises to bring the republication of the Dr. Huckleberry memoir of medicine in Garibaldi in the early 20th century.
